The first release from the all new streamlined Husky Rescue line-up. The Deep Forest Green EP includes Min Lilla Eld, an original song by Johanna Kalén sung in her native Swedish. Other songs include Deep Forest Green, Wind in the Willows, Sunrider and Skin of Snow plus an interpretation of Deep Forest Green by label mate Tiiu Helinä’s producer Samuli Tanner's electronic act Clouds. The Deep Forest Green EP is released as a Digi-sleeve CD and a digital version, both with artwork by esteemed long-term Husky Rescue collaborator Kustaa Saksi.
Made especially to mark the occasion of Husky Rescue’s recent concert at Unit in Tokyo, Japan, this 7cm whistle from the Finnish forests is hand carved from willow wood. The whistle comes complete with a 40cm leather lanyard and wrapped in a beautiful full colour leaf illustration designed by Helsinki native Santtu Mustonen. On the 100% biodegradable art paper is a handwritten download code for the Japan edition of the Ep, which includes a special interpretation of Deep Forest Green by Clouds. There are four different leaf designs available, making a perfect gift for a special one.
“Far from the Storm” showcases the new bright sound of Husky Rescue, teeming with fresh compositional ideas and signature craftsmanship of Husky main man Marko Nyberg. The inclusion of Johanna Kalén on vocals adds a sharp edge to the band’s sound and takes things sonically a step further.
”Let's try and meet up sometime”, ”See you later!”
Sometimes sincere, sometimes ironic, these words almost always stay hanging in the air. Rarely does anyone actually meet up in this busy world.
Inspired by Marko Nyberg getting back in touch with his friend after 15 years, Husky Rescue has titled their fourth album The Long Lost Friend.
Opening gently with Restless Feet and Under Friendly Fire, the album takes the listener through a joyous journey. Culminating in the gospel-like groove of the seven and a half minute version of the single Tree House, The Long Lost Friend features a collection some of the catchiest songs Husky Rescue have written.
Long time collaborator Kustaa Saksi, inspired by the theme of the album, departs from his usual style. The cover art features a timeless, melancholy illustration based on the work of Flemish painter Michiel Sweerts (1618 – 1664).
The album comes with an essay written by Nybergs ”Long Lost Friend”, a text for all who are in search for their Long Lost Friends.
Veli is the first full album of Helsinki based Tiiu Helinä. It is also the culmination of steady recording and experimentation of siblings Helinä and Samuli Tanner started in 2009. Combining folk sensibilities and with modern glitchy production, Tiiu Helinäs sound is genuinely fresh. Full of catchy beats and timeless melodies, this tight packed album is bound to find a way in to your heart.
Songs include: Susi, Sataa, Valas, Metsuri, Kurja Mies, Virsi, Veli and the single Muuri.
The album is available as a Digi-sleeve CD and as vinyl Lp with cover artwork by Heta Bilaletdin.
